Cattle

We have two breeds of pedigree beef cattle, the main herd being Aberdeen Angus, and the other being the very traditional Longhorn. Both breeds were chosen for their docile nature, their suitability to our low input system, and their ability to thrive outside all the year round in our natural grazing conditions.

We calve in both spring and autumn; the calves are weaned late at 10 months, and the majority out winter. The cattle only eat the natural forage inputs found on our farm i.e. clover, grasses, and herbs supplemented with our own grass/clover silage in the winter.

The Angus beef quality is well recognised, and the Longhorn is even more intensely flavoured and rich.  Cattle are ruminants and we believe they should only be fed a natural forage diet such as ours, the organic beef produced whilst being of fantastic flavour and texture, is also of improved health benefit to the consumer, being higher in the healthy omega-3 fatty acids, and lower in the ‘bad’ fatty acids.
